a little bit of life drawing

The other day when I was visiting the ol' home town I went to Williamson's park, to draw in their butterfly house/animals bit, so here's the few drawings I deemed acceptable to be seen by the rest of the world!

I really love the new pencils a friend of mine gave me, I think they're really going to make a difference to my work, and they certainly make life drawing a lot more fun!

The Squabblers!

So this year I entered the Macmillan Children's Book Prize with my story The Squabblers. It was about a bunch of animals in the forest who all have very irritating habits, and a cocky little monkey who thinks he can solve it all!

so this is the first of four spreads from the book that I completed for entry into the competition! I particularly liked Monkey's expression in this spread but I certainly had problems with the colours in the rainforest! (Green Is Not A Creative Colour!)

Sadly I wasn't shortlisted but hey ho time to start planning for next year's entry!
